Message from the President
My
fellow colleagues and IENA members:
I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful summer
weather we had here in the Inland Empire. As the days get shorter the list of
upcoming events gets longer! We hope you will take time out of your busy
schedules to participate in some of those sponsored by your professional
organization.
The
IENA is hitting the ground running with the Annual
Legislative Reception scheduled for October 13, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Lion
Hotel at the Park in Spokane.

State and local legislators have been invited to speak at the Legislative
Reception, along
with representatives from WSNA and other nursing organizations. What a wonderful
opportunity for us to hear from our Representatives, and new candidates for
office, on issues affecting healthcare in our communities. It is also a great
opportunity to let them hear from us. This is a free event and is presented with
support from our Washington Association of Nurse Anesthetists (WANA) and Nurse
Practitioner Group of Spokane colleagues.
If you would like to be notified of
upcoming events please send us your e-mail address at
iena@aimcomm.net
or submit your e-mail address via the link on our web site.
In November, WSNA is presenting a Workshop on Workplace
Violence. The event will be held at the Red Lion River Inn (201 W North River
Drive in Spokane) on November 19, 2009 at 5:00pm–8:30pm. Three (3.0) contact
hours (CE) will be provided. The event is FREE for WSNA members, $20 for non-members.
A meal is provided. To register call Irene Mueller at 206-575-7979 (Extension
0), or
click here to visit the WSNA web page. To obtain a printable flyer for the
event, click here.
BOD elections were held in August and we will have new faces joining us in
November. New Director's-at-Large are Larry Koffel and Peggy Smith; Vivian Hill
will be our General Duty Director, and Julie Thomsen will be our new Treasurer.
We will have other new BOD members as we appoint volunteers to our remaining
Board positions. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on the IENA
Board please contact us. We would love to have your support and assistance.
Welcome to our new Administrative Secretary JoAnn
Kaiser. She will keep our office
humming from 1200-1700 on Monday through Thursday. She comes to us with a wealth
of experience and we are thrilled to be sharing her with our WANA colleagues.
