PTSD CONTINUING EDUCATION EVENT

On Thursday, March 10, 2011 the Inland Empire Nurses Association hosted a dinner and Continuing Education event on "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Complex Trauma: What Is It? Who Has It? How Well Do You Know the Patient or Co-Worker?"

We had an exceptional response with more than one hundred attendees. The program was approved by WSNA for 3.0 contact hours.

Kristin Souers, a licensed therapist, discussed Complex Trauma reminding us that not every individual who has PTSD developed this problem in a war zone, that sometimes our very homes and schools are the war zone.

Dawn Gray discussed PTSD from the perspective of an OEF/OIF Veteran and Clinical Social Worker for both the Veterans Administration and the Washington Army Guard.

Suzanne Williams featured the unique perspective of a Viet Nam Veteran and her difficult return to civilian life and workforce.

The program was timely and well received. A member of a sister organization also hopes to feature some or all of the speakers at their next conference.

Thank you to everyone who made the event such a success.
