IENA Board Biographies

Susan K. Glass, RN MS BSN (nee Hawkins, nee Grant)

Sue serves as IENA's Treasurer.

Sue was born and raised in the suburbs of Seattle, and always felt that she would "grow up and be a nurse." She graduated from Washington State University in 1978 with a BSN, and in 1983 earned a Master of Science (Adult Health Nursing) at Arizona State University.

Critical care nursing, cardiology, and nursing education have always been her primary areas of interest.

Over her thirty-seven-year career, she has worked in private institutions as a staff nurse in CCU, telemetry and home care; as a staff development instructor/coordinator (depending on the employer), and as an academic and clinical educator. For the last fifteen years she worked at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center first as the cardiology nurse supervising cardiac stress testing, later as the GI coordinator, and finally as the cancer care nurse navigator.

She retired from nursing in 2015 in order to have more time to spend with her husband, Howard, their six adult children, and their four grandsons, all of whom live in the three other corners of our country.
