IENA Board Biographies

Kathleen Brown, RN, BSN

Kathleen has served IENA as a Director-at-Large and is a former Vice-President.

Kathleen graduated from the Intercollegiate College for Nursing/Whitworth University in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. After working one year at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, she landed what would be her career job at Spokane Eye Surgery Center (SESC). She has been with SESC since 1986, serving as the Director of Nursing since 2002.


Staying involved in the nursing profession is a priority for Kathleen. She is a Past President of the AORN local chapter, a member of ASORN (American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses), and serves as a committee member on ActionEd with the goal of enhancing on-line educational offerings. Kathleen is a member of WASCA (Washington Ambulatory Surgery Center Association).


Originally from Tekoa, Washington, Kathleen now resides in Spangle and makes the short commute to Spokane daily. She and her husband, Raymond, have two children, Abby (16), and Cameron (20) who is a student at EWU and is pursuing further education in physical therapy.
